Thank you for your purchase! We hope this child theme will jump start your design project and have you well on your way to an awesome, super fly website! In this article, you will find step-by-step instructions explaining how to install your new child theme and replicate the theme demo on your own website.
Before we get started, please note that our child themes are built specifically for use with Divi by Elegant Themes. In order to install this child theme, you must first purchase a membership to Elegant Themes and download the Divi theme package. If you’ve not yet purchased a membership, visit http://elegantthemes.com.
Once you've gained access to Divi, follow the installation instructions.
STEP 1: INSTALLING YOUR CHILD THEME
Once you have made sure you have Divi installed you can continue.
After making your Superfly purchase, you will have received an email confirmation. Within that email is a section called “File Downloads” with a link you can click to access your child theme. At any time, you can also log in to your Superfly account and access your child theme via your API Downloads area.
The child theme package you download from your Superfly account is not what you will use as a child theme install in WordPress. The file you download contains documentation and read-me files along with the child theme.
To install your new Superfly child theme, you must first UNZIP the file you downloaded from your Superfly account (typically named "UNZIP-ME-FIRST-[product name].zip"). Read the documentation files given with your download. Then locate your included child theme .zip file (it's a ZIP within the ZIP). Just like you installed the Divi parent theme, install & activate your child theme .zip file.
During the install process, please do not navigate away from the page! It can take a few minutes for some child themes to finish installing. If the install fails, it is almost always because your hosting provider has smaller limits on PHP execution times and file upload sizes. (See HAVING TROUBLE? at the bottom of this article.)
Step 2: API Key Activation
After activating your new child theme, you will need to provide your API key and API email. This is available at https://besuperfly.com/my-account/my-api-keys/
STEP 3: INSTALLING THE PLUGINS (OPTIONAL)
Some of our child themes have recommended plugins to broaden and enhance the experience. All child themes created from late 2017 on, plus child themes with version releases from then going forward, already have these plugin prepackaged in your child theme.
Therefore, you will see one of the following (3a or 3b):
Step 3a: Once you've activated your child theme you will see a notification at the top of your screen prompting you to install any recommended plugins. Click "Begin installing plugins".
(If you do not see this, then proceed to step 3b below.)
On the next screen, simply check the box of the plugins you want to install and choose Bulk Actions > Install > Apply. Once complete, your plugins will be installed and activated.
Step 3b: Once you've activated your child theme you will see a menu link in your WordPress admin area with the name of your new child theme. Go to [child theme name] > Easy Demo Import. Review all options. To create a site just as you saw in the demo site (assuming you have a fresh install), leave all options as checked.
Either way, click the "Import Demo Content" button at the bottom of the page when you are satisfied with your options. Depending on the settings you choose, this will import all plugins and demo content, along with activating those plugins.
STEP 4: IMPORT THE SAMPLE CONTENT
All child themes created from late 2017 on, plus child themes with version releases from then going forward, will already have the demo content imported as part of the process described in 3b above. Yay, you're done!
If you needed to follow step 3a above... Once you’ve activated your plugins, go to Divi > Import Demo Data and click the “Import Demo Data” button. Sit back and let the system do the rest for you! Be patient though, depending on your hosting provider and server speed, this process could take several minutes. Once complete, you should see an "All done." message.
Some customers have reported issues installing the demo content. This is due to some hosting providers limiting the timeframe of the import script needed to run in order to install the theme's content and settings. If for some reason you see a 404 or "Page Cannot Be Displayed", you can login and attempt the import process again until you see the "All Set" confirmation message that everything's been imported.
